Receiving the National Film Award for Best Editing for the film Borderlands, from the Hon. President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
Anadi Athaley is a film editor and producer. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India specialising in Film Editing. He has been working as a freelance editor for over 10 years based in Mumbai and has been producing films with HumanTrail Pictures and One by One Motion Pictures, with his producing partner, Karma Takapa.
 
His first film as a producer-editor, Mor Mann Ke Bharam won the Jury special prize at the 17th Mumbai Film Festival in 2015. His second film, Ralang Road premiered at the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2017, as part of the main competition.
 
Apart from feature films, he has also collaborated on a number of short films including Detour (MAMI Jury Special Prize 2017) by Sumi Mathai, Daaravtha, directed by Nishant Roy Bombarde, that won a National Award for Best Film by a Debut Director in 2015.
 
He has been involved with many non-fiction films with the production company Camera and Shorts, editing films like Kazwa: A million lanterns, In search of Rhythm and The Unreserved which won the National Award for Best On-location Sound for a non-feature film in 2017. His latest film with the same company, Borderlands, directed by Samarth Mahajan, received the National Award for Best Editing in the non-feature category for 2020.
 
His recent work as a co-editor on Netflix’s non-fiction series, Murder in a Courtroom: Indian Predator, directed by Umesh Kulkarni, is currently streaming on Netflix. He also worked on the Hotstar series, School of Lies as Chief Associate Editor, which was directed by Avinash Arun.
 
He is developing a documentary feature film on Bhaichung Bhutia, along with Karma Takapa and consulting on some documentary feature films.
